Life is ebb & flow, as mine has been over the past two years. So I offer here an eclectic mix of fun numbers and some songs of gratitude and love too. I dedicate Medical Practitioner to all the doctors who have helped me during these challenging times.
I have included, for the first time, a YouTube video for the title track. It's all homemade but you might like it.
As usual I include some covers of my favourite songs: The One by local group Georgetown, Sailin' The Wind by Loggins & Messina from the seventies, Captain Of Her Heart by Double from the eighties, and Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus from the early nineties, which served as the template for my 2019 Rugby World Cup song Achy Breaky Balls (listener discretion is advised!)
A huge thank you to my partner Mel Williams, a stalwart supporter and my biggest fan. Mel also wrote Angel From The Snow for her grand-daughter who was born earlier this year - 2019 - during the Canadian winter. Many thanks to my friend Eric Newton for sharing his knowledge, experience - and recording software - with me.
I mostly play my Taylor steel string acoustic, with occasional lead breaks on my Aria nylon string. The bass is my Fender Jazz Bass. The drums come out of a Boss drum box (not programmed!). Everything else is from a Roland JUNO-D keyboard. I wrote all the songs (except as mentioned above) and play and sing everything.
The CD was recorded in my home studio in Somerset West between March and October 2019. The cover photo was taken on Strand Beach in 2019, looking towards Cape Town.
