Graphic Equaliser
This album was written and recorded entirely during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, between June and December. In fact, what got me started was Lockdown Party!
Seven Minus Five is a tribute to that wonderful jazz chord, the minor-seventh-flat-five, written in A as Am7-5. Musical Cemetery is a tirade against shitty modern music, especially the lyrics. Vigilante is the story of that young fellow gunned down three people during the Black Lives Matter riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. And at last, a small tribute to the late Tom Petty.
Thanks as usual to my best friend Mel for endless encouragement and support, and for sourcing illegal fags from the local corner store when we were gasping for a drag!
I mostly play my Taylor steel string acoustic, with occasional lead breaks on my Aria nylon string acoustic. My bass is a Fender Jazz Bass played through a SansAmp DI box. The drums come out of a Boss drum box (not programmed!). Everything else is from a Roland JUNO-D keyboard. I wrote all the songs and play and sing everything.
The cover picture was taken at 7am at Gordons Bay during one of my swims to the harbour wall (seen in the distant background). Note the moon in the top right corner!
The CD was recorded in my home studio in Somerset West between June 2020 and December 2020.
