After taking Shooting The Breeze to Nashville in May 2003 I started looking for a way to professionally record my songs without breaking the bank. In November 2003 I bumped into an old musician friend, Tigger Reunert, who had just set up a little recording studio with his friend Davie Goldberg. They offered to have a go at recording my songs.
We started recording in January 2004 in Malcolm Aberdein's lounge in Woodstock. We had some great session musicians including Barrie van Zyl (drums) and Alvin Hendricks (bass) and Willie van Zyl (sax and clarinet). When Malcolm left town the studio moved to whatever bedroom Tigger was then living in, using a pirated copy of Cubase. The final CD was finished in August but Beverly and I were not entirely happy with the production, part of which was my own fault for being an inexperienced producer!
Beverly and I then decided to revise the entire CD with just Beverly on vocals, using as much material from the original tracks as possible. We went into Sound & Motion Studios, a proper recording studio run by Simon Ratcliff, who also acted as the producer. With Beverley's new band backing her, we recorded two new songs (Silent Moments and My Love), and the entire album was remixed and remastered. The result was the album Silent Moments.
All the songs were written by either Beverly or me. I play acoustic guitar on all the tracks. Beverly's songs include Come Back Into My Arms, Silent Moments, Spell On Me, and To All The Good Times. The rest are my songs.
The cover shows Tigger and Beverly at the bar in Summerville Restuarant in Camps Bay.
