Recorded between September 2009 and September 2010, this represented a very mellow and peaceful period when I was living in my home on the hill (13 Tree Rd) in Camps Bay.
Before He Cheats, a Carrie Underwood song, is sung by my niece Camilla Salmon, with my backing. Knocking On Heaven's Door is a Bob Dylan song and Put Your Lights On is by Everlast from a Santana album. Song For Guy is an Elton John song.
Hum Along is a complete ad-lib, the majority of which I did in a single take, just making it up as I went along. Sunday Afternoon is an ode to the interminable south easters that blow through Camps Bay on summer afternoons, which was my favourite time to record. In fact, most of the songs refer in one way or another to my "home on the hill" in Camps Bay.
The album cover was taken when I was arm-twisted into getting up and singing a few impromptu songs at a friend's 40th birthday party in 2008.
