Graphic Equaliser
I recently came across the original recordings for a few of the songs from my 2004 album It Must Be Friday Night: Bali Bay, Little Castles, Old Melodies and Tornado. Tigger Reunert and Beverly Rinkwest sang the originals, and Tigger did most of the recording, and also left me the original Cubase tracks. So I loaded them into my own Cubase, deleted his voice and added mine!
The 2004 band comprised Beverly (vocals), Tigger (vocals, lead guitar), Alvin Hendricks (bass), David Goldberg (piano), Willie van Zyl (clarinet), with Rob Ogilvie and Barry van Zyl (drums).
I have also included a few new songs and one cover song: Cat's In The Cradle by Harry Chapin(1974).
Thanks as usual to my best friend and partner Mel Williams for encouragement and support, especially for listening patiently to the endless initial mixes!
*****
I mostly play my Taylor 514-C steel string acoustic, with occasional lead breaks on my Aria nylon string acoustic, both through a single Rode NT2A microphone. I play a Fender Jazz Bass through a SansAmp DI box and into my Scarlet 4i4 audio interface. The drums come out of a Alesis SR16 drum box and occasionally through Cubase Groove Agent, via my MIDI interface . Everything else (strings, flutes, sax, etc) is from a Roland JUNO-D keyboard systhesizer. The album was recorded on Cubase 12 Pro.
The album was recorded in my home studio in Somerset West between July and December 2023.
