Graphic Equaliser
This album was recorded between May 2015 and August 2016 after I moved from Hermanus to Somerset West and started a new life. The songs document my blossoming relationship with Mel Williams, who wrote the lyrics to Just Walk Away, A Girl I Once Knew and Peter Pan. I wrote the melody to Peter Pan whilst working in Nairobi, Kenya, in early 2015.
Stay Girl was written in 2014 while I was living in Hermanus but used to spend odd weekends with Lindy Warren in nearby De Kelder. It's about her having to go to work on Sunday afternoons when she was a guide at Grootbos Nature Reserve. The song is dedicated to the memory of Lindy who sadly died in 2015.
All the numbers on this album are played on my Taylor acoustic guitar and spanish nylon string. My Roland JUNO-D keyboard contributed a variety of wind intruments, and the drummer lives in a little Boss drum box!
The cover picture shows me in our house in Somerset West in 2015. Note the glass of wine...
