This album spans the period December 2010 to September 2012, for some reason a particularly melancholic period in my life, as attested to by the songs, and the fact that only three of the songs are my own.

The The Last Chord is a facetious skit on the band U2 who came to Cape Town in 2011 to great acclaim. I thought that all the hype was a lot of bullshit. I had a terrible cold when I recorded the first take, but thought that my voice sounded so "cool" that I decided to leave it in and make the song a duet between my "cold voice" and my normal voice.

My rendition of the Lewis Carrol poem The Walrus & The Carpenter is intended to scare young children witless. If nothing else I had an amusing time recording it!

In July 2012 I attended the Ice Swim in Sutherland, and on my way home (in the snow!) I was listening to the Fun Loving Criminals CD in my car. Given the very recent death of my mother, this made for torrid listening and I felt I needed to lay down my own versions of two of their more morbid songs: She's My Friend and Underground.

Go On is a Jack Johnson number, and Because is a Beatles song, often said to be the best track off Abbey Road (1969), and also suitably melancholic.

The cover picture is of my Timothy guitar in my house in Tree Rd (my Home on the Hill ).
