This album was largely recorded in 2014 whilst living in Hermanus. It was not a particularly happy time, having recently had my heart broken, and the music seems to reflect this.
I was spending quite a bit of time playing and recording music with Judy Miller; indeed, we did a few gigs at The Original Deli in Hermanus in early 2014. You can hear some of our numbers on Terry & Judy Live At The Deli.
Wait And See is a lament to Ally, she of the belly dancing fame, who managed to break my heart. Back On Your Feet is also a bit of a sideswipe at Ally...
On the two instrumentals (New Day and Twilight) I have double-tracked my Spanish and steel string guitars to create a slightly unusual sound to the guitars. I composed Out Of Luck whilst cycling up the Karwyderskraal road one chirpy Saturday morning.
The album includes three covers. Stairway To Heaven is a Led Zeppelin number. You Are So Beautiful was written by Billy Preston and Dennis Wilson (of the Beach Boys!) and made famous by Joe Cocker. Forever Young is a Bob Dylan song.
The cover picture was taken at Mogg's Kitchen in the Hemel & Aarde Valley on my birthday in 2014. The picture was taken by my friend, Lindy Warren, who sadly passed away in 2015.
