Most of these songs were written while I was recovering from a dreadful bicycle accident which left me with a badly broken femur and a ton of titanium in my leg and hip. As a result the songs tend to be softer and more melancholy, as in Walk A Mile In My Shoes and Fairyland. I wrote Seagull way back in 2002 and it appeared on my very first CD (see Shooting The Breeze); this is a digital re-recording I did in 2011.

I owe a great debt of gratitude to my partner Mel Williams who not only nursed me through this ordeal but contributed to the entire CD, even writing and singing the song You've Gotta Be My Friend. All my songs are dedicated to her.

Laughing is a David Crosby number from a solo album he made in 1971. Candy is by Tom Petty off one of his last CD's called Mojo. The Bokke Lament is my humourous dig at the drubbing the Boks got at the hands of the All Blacks in September 2017.

I mostly play my Taylor steel string acoustic, with occasional lead breaks on my Aria nylon string. The bass is mostly my Fender Jazz Bass, but I have also used a synthesised upright bass on a few tracks. The drums come out of a Boss drum box. Everything else is from a Roland keyboard; no, I don't blow a mean tenor sax!

The CD was recorded in my home studio in Somerset West between April and December 2018. With the exception of You've Gotta Be My Friend I play and sing everything.
