The Golden Ratio
The golden ratio spiral is based on a framework of boxes whose sides are all in the
golden ratio φ. φ has the interesting property that
φ = 1 + 1/φ = 1.618033...
As can be seen in the plot, each framework box provides a quadrant of a circle, which gets smaller and smaller.
Box 1 has side 100, Box 2 has side 1/φ, Box 3 has side 1/(φ*φ), and so forth.
